Working Millennials - You Might Be Missing Out on Some BIG Opportunities

Working 9-to-5 in the traditional work setup, many of us millennials feel underpaid and undervalued, despite having impressive qualifications and a promising degree. We feel frustrated that we’re stuck in mediocre employment, while so many entrepreneurs our age are earning tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of dollars per month—a life that we could have freely enjoyed had we not chosen to be in the corporate world.

I know what it’s like, because I’ve been a corporate junkie myself. I often accepted jobs where I’ve been overqualified, holding a business degree, a diploma and other business and computing related certificates. I’ve done really great things in a company where I’ve worked as a customer service representative, but all I got was a pat on the back and a “Thank you, well done!” So I wondered, why wasn’t I getting anywhere? Surely, with my work ethic, dedication, skills and qualifications, I am worth a promotion! I deserve a pay raise!

Many women are qualified and experienced but feel they have to accept lower pay rates so they can secure more flexible jobs for parenting.

And it’s not just me. I’ve spoken with many women who are qualified and experienced but feel they have to accept lower pay rates so they can secure more flexible jobs for parenting. Or in some cases, they just accepted any job because there’s not a lot of work going. It’s such a waste that so many women are working in jobs where they don’t get to utilize their education and experience!

The BIG opportunity is online

It’s ironic that we have grown up with all these digital tools, the internet and the advancement of technology, yet we continue to look backwards at the traditional employment solutions, which aren’t really getting us anywhere.

There is a very large, often forgotten opportunity we have failed to take advantage of, and that is the online world.

Taking advantage of the online world, we can take our lives and choose to do what we want with them. We can use this generation’s greatest knowledge asset to create an income using our skill sets and charge what we are worth. With the right mindset and tools, we have the capacity to earn much more than we currently do, while working more flexible hours.

We can take ownership of our lives and regain control of our situations. We can reduce our working week to 10-20 hours, afford a nice home, a nice car, a long vacation. All these can be done by choosing a path that is looking forward toward the future!

Technology and the Internet are changing the world of work.

An online business offers HUGE opportunities for us millennials to use our knowledge assets to make an income many times what our earning capacity is in employment. We just need to take advantage of the technology we have and start looking forward.

Why are we not making the move?

I have to admit, self-employment is not for the faint-hearted, nor for anyone who wants instant gratification (if you just sit there without any motivation or ambition, you won’t gain anything by starting a business). But for those who desire to live a quality life they know they deserve, they can have it all. With a little hard work, a bit of side hustle and a huge chunk of belief and mindset, millennials have an opportunity to use their skills, education and passion to make some serious money.

So I’d like to encourage frustrated young millennials who want to start making real money to explore the opportunities readily available in the Internet. If you don’t know what direction to take in an online business, I’d be delighted to help you start!

Are you thinking of starting an online business? What’s keeping you from making the move?
