In my book, Start with I, I write a lot about self-love, self-worth and personal value because of it's importance in achievement. Like many others, I had this feeling of unworthiness.
Have you ever felt like you’re not good enough??
I have good and bad news...
Feeling not good enough is one of humanity’s biggest issues. The good news is, with commitment, we can overcome this.
Self-love has been one of my bigger mountains to conquer. I have many, and I enjoy them all, but learning about self-love has taught me my potential rises when my self-worth is high. If I value myself highly, others will value me highly too!
“Self love is seeing yourself as God created you” - Melissa Wiringi, Start with I.
You see, what I've learned through my journey of self discovery and personal development, is we are all amazing. We are all born as love, free from fear.
What happened to most of us is fear-based conditioning. We receive messages from our well meaning parents, friends, family, influences and society that tell us we are something different to what we truly are. Love.
We need to correct our mistaken beliefs that we are anything other than love. We need to begin looking at ourselves as we truly are, love.
Cultivating self-love is a mix of affirmations, exercising forgiveness, kindness and compassion toward ourselves.
When we understand humanity’s purpose is happiness, peace and love, we can quickly see many of our fear based behaviours are not aligned with this purpose.
When we can look at anger, judgement and greed and see they don’t serve any positive purpose it becomes easier to let go of these mindsets.
Our fear based behaviours don’t serve any positive purpose, they stem from our false self which we have acquired through our conditioning.
The way forward to to accept these behaviours as mistakes, as errors, and commit to change our minds about life!
We begin to focus more on loving behaviours, and the gifts we all have, forgiveness, gratitude and compassion. These gifts will help us restore ourselves to our true self. Love.
We can reaffirm this every day, using affirmations like, I am love, I am kindness and compassion, I am forgiving, I am calm and peaceful. When we write these out every day with feeling and emotion, our inner state begins to shift.
Joining this with journaling, meditation, yoga or any practise you enjoy that brings you a peaceful state of mind will help you to deconstruct your fear based behaviours, and the more you cultivate your loving self, the easier it will become to tap into your true self.
